The assurance of appropriate acidic pH level is the key issue. In the normal microflora of the vagina this task is executed by the most commonly found bacteria - lactic acid bacilli, which are a sort of a probiotic.
These bacteria ferment using glycogen, found in the cells of epidermis, and produce lactic acid. This is the factor determining the appropriate acidic pH of the vagina, in which the pathogenic microorganisms cannot survive and moreover replicate. The safe intimate hygiene product, not infringing the natural ecosystem of the vagina, should always contain lactic acid.
The ingredients such as panthenol or allantoin, soothing the irritations or betaine that has moisturizing effect, should be noted as well. The presence of plant extracts is also recommended, including camomile, marigold and other herbal ingredients that have been used for centuries in natural medicine.
Camomile is valued for its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. It contributes to quicker regeneration of micro-damages to the muculous membrane and soothes irritations. It also helps to neutralise unpleasant smells.
The medicinal marigold is excellent germicidal and fungicidal substance, reduces the risk of development of infections and inflammations, heals minor grazes and prevents unfavourable changes in mucosa.
The petal rose extract used in Cleanic intimate hygiene liquid with rose petal extract, has been known for centuries for its medicinal properties and its exceptional fragrance. When used in intimate hygiene products, it soothes burdensome irritations, guaranteeing a long-lasting feeling of freshness.
More and more often we are selecting intimate hygiene products, which are convenient to use, especially in the situation of limited access to running water, e.g.: during travel, at the gym, swimming pool or before a medical appointment – the intimate hygiene wet wipes work best in such situations. Our choice of appropriate wipes should be driven by the same factors as in the case of intimate hygiene liquids/emulsions.
The broad range of products of this type also includes the more specialised products, such as Cleanic Intimate Intensive Care, designed for intensive care of intimate places in the case of the infringement of the balance of natural environment of intimate zones. The acidity of these wipes reduced to the level of approx. 4.3 pH, forms an effective barrier against harmful pathogenic microorganisms and combined with lactic acid and panthenol the wipes help to quickly rebuild the correct bacterial flora of intimate areas. These wipes are especially recommended during the period, antibiotic treatment or during hormonal contraception.
It should be stressed however that the wipes cannot replace the intimate hygiene liquids or emulsions, but still are a safe alternative in situations, when access to running water is limited. According to the principle "better safe than sorry" it always good to have them on us, especially that they can be fit in any bag or travel cosmetic purse.
